Liam currently plays for the Melbourne-based metal band BenchCup.

Growing up in the country town of Launceston, Tasmania, Liam started drumming in 2008. Quickly growing a passion for rock & metal music, he started listening to bands such as Slipknot, Linkin Park, and Rise Against.

Having played mainly in school bands, Liam moved to Melbourne in 2016 to study a Bachelor of Music Performance at The Australian Institute of Music, graduating in 2018. It wasn’t until this time that Liam grew a love for progressive metal/djent and deathcore, exploring bands/artists such as Shadow of Intent, Gojira, Meshuggah, and Periphery.

 

 Taking influences from all kinds of genres such as rock, metalcore, and rap - BenchCup has embraced a sound that not many will be familiar with. BenchCup has only just begun in 2023, but are looking to release several singles throughout the year and push hard for their first year in the Melbourne metal scene.
