From the suburbs of Melbourne’s south east, Jake first began pissing off the neighbours from behind the kit at the age of 14. A love of rockin’ with friends and forming bands throughout high school fuelled a burning desire of wanting to be surrounded by the music community, go to shows, discover bands and party.
In 2010, Jake formed Clowns alongside longtime friend Stevie Williams (vocals) just after wrapping up high school. The years that proceeded saw countless back to back self-booked tours around Australia and abroad, with nothing more than the motivation to seek fun with a blind faith that it was all building towards something.
12 years on, Clowns have released four studio albums on a multitude of record labels in Australia, USA, Europe and Asia, including being the second Australian band to sign with esteemed punk rock label Fat Wreck Chords.
Jake is also the co-founder of Damaged Record Co, a record label formed originally as a DIY avenue to self-release Clowns albums. Clowns’ fourth LP ‘Nature/Nurture’ was the first album released on the label, debuting at #31 on the ARIA Charts and receiving a nomination for ‘Best Hard Rock or Heavy Metal Album’. The label has since grown to release albums for great Australian punk bands such as Private Function, These New South Whales, VOIID and more.
